Perhaps it’s time to set aside
My wishes for reaction
To simply gaze upon the world
In unfettered satisfaction

To not expect my expectations
To let go of my wishes
To let life simply do it’s thing
And then go do the dishes

I don’t know why I can’t release
My mind says this is reason
Emotions back up silently
And look on with derision

To let the bird fly from the glove
It’s freedom now released
If ever it returns to me
My expectations may then cease.
